Your denture does not hold? A problem faced by many people who wear dental prostheses. What to do in such a case? What solutions can be applied to solve this problem?
We have three solutions for a denture that does not fit. In addition to solving the problem of instability, these solutions have the significant advantage of stopping the pain in the gums that a denture that does not hold causes.
We have the expertise in the manufacture of dental prostheses. We ensure their production, fit and maintenance. Our Knowledge enables to find practical solutions to the problems that denture wearers may encounter. And we can advise you the right way with the proper diagnosis. We will correctly identify what may be the cause of a denture that does not hold.
Why is your denture unstable?
Over time, some changes occur in your mouth. One of the main reasons that a denture can no longer hold is bone resorption. This reality affects the long-term peoples who wear dentures.
Due to the loss of teeth, the bones of the jaw tend to reabsorb. The same goes for the gums. That brings about a significant modification of the mouth which is irreversible. These changes, therefore, require frequent adjustments to dental prostheses such as dentures.
We then tactfully adjusts your dental prosthesis. But when the denture problem does not become more critical, we may prefer one of these three solutions: repair, supplement or reline dental prostheses or dental implants. We will propose the solution that will best solve your problem, depending on the condition of your mouth, the age of your prosthesis and its shape.
1. Repair, supplement or reline
Replenishment consists of filling the space created between your dental prosthesis and your gums using acrylic. It is precision work that aims to adjust the denture as best as possible to the new shape of the gums and bones of the jaw. By re-adjusting, the position of your teeth, so the look of your smile does not change, at the same time, your comfort improve.
We may suggest the replenishing solution if your dentures are in excellent condition and not too old. Also, this solution can be applied if your gums and jaws are not excessively resorbed.
The relining consists in changing all the acrylic of the dental prosthesis to fit the new forms of the mouth. The teeth on the denture remain the same and their position. On the other hand, this method completely modifies the structure of the dental prosthesis. In this way, the desired comfort and stability are obtained.
Though performing well, these two techniques are not permanent solutions. Indeed, over the years, the mouth continues to change. And the cycle of the denture that does not hold resumes.
2. Changing the denture
It may happen that the two preceding processes cannot solve the problem of a denture that won’t hold, although the resorption of the gums is present. In addition to a diagnosis of incorrect positioning of the teeth, we may then suggest the change of the denture. A positioning of teeth too external to the tip of the resorbed gums unbalanced the denture which, as a result, no longer holds as it should. You will have to consider entirely change the denture.
No adjustment intervention is then possible. Only a new denture adjusted to the unique shapes of the mouth will correct the instability.
3. Dentures on implants
Here is the third solution: Dental prosthesis on implants. And this is not the least. Indeed, dental prostheses on implants are like natural teeth. They allow you to eat without pain anything you want. Chew easily and comfortably.
Best of all, dentures on implants prevent deterioration of the mouth over the years. They stop bone and gum loss by stimulating the jaws like the real deal. This solution brings a permanent relief to the problem of the denture that does not hold.
Dentures on implants are precision prostheses manufactured by us. They are attached directly or indirectly to a titanium implant which acts as an artificial root..
These implants are inserted into the bone of the jaw. The operation, performed by a dental surgeon, allows dental implants to adhere to bone tissue permanently. In this process, we works in collaboration with a dental surgeon specializing in the installation of dental implants.
On average, two to five dental implants can be inserted into the lower jaw (the mandible). For the upper jaw (maxilla), four to ten implants may be required.
This state-of-the-art process makes it possible to stabilize the dental prosthesis almost permanently. Only a few minor adjustments may be needed over a lifetime.
Dental prostheses on implants is the best solution we can offer you.
